En de motor? Die kwam uit een bus. Ook het uiterlijk was sommigen een doorn in het oog. Zoals gezegd: de Axor was een compromis.<\/p>\n<p>Het voertuig dat zich drie jaar geleden aan de experts van lastauto omnibus presenteerde in hun test van de Mercedes Axor 1843, was andere koek. In de tussentijd had de Axor zijn naam gevestigd en werd hij op veel markten door heel Europa verkocht. De truck beschikte over een luchtgeveerde cabine, veiligheidsuitrusting uit de toenmalige Actros en de automatische versnellingsbak Powershift 2.<\/p>\n<h2>Mercedes Axor beschikt over zuinige motor<b><\/b><\/h2>\n<p>De motor van de Mercedes Axor 1843 was er al in Euro 5 in drie vermogenstrappen tussen 354 en 428 pk. Hij kon de testers voor zich winnen met zijn rustige loop. In de test op een uitdagend traject en bij een gemiddelde snelheid van bijna 82 km\/h, verbruikte de vrachtwagen 36,7 liter diesel en 1,85 liter AdBlue.<\/p>\n<p>De Powershift-automaat ontving veel lof van de experts van lastauto omnibus. Alleen de eerste schakeling liet volgens de testers aan het begin van een helling te lang op zich wachten. Maar verder waren ze in hun nopjes: \u201cHet lage vollastverbruik op de vele hellingen toont aan dat motor en transmissie de kunst beheersen om een hoge snelheid en een laag verbruik te combineren\u201d, aldus de experts van lastauto omnibus.<\/p>\n<h2>Mercedes Axor sportiever dan de Actros<b><\/b><\/h2>\n<p>De sportuitvoering van de Actros, daar deed de Mercedes Axor 1843 de testers een beetje aan denken: zijn vering is stugger afgesteld en de binnengeluiden liggen wat hoger dan bij zijn grote broer. Terwijl de binnenhoogte van de cabine die van de Actros zelfs 100 millimeter overtreft, gaat het er in de breedte krapper aan toe: slechts 2100 millimeter in plaats van de 2300 van de Actros heeft de crew tot zijn beschikking. Daarbij ontbreekt het de Axor aan voldoende bergruimte aan de buitenkant.<\/p>\n<p>Over het geheel genomen kreeg de Mercedes Axor 1843 toch zeer goede cijfers van de testers: met de jaren is hij volwassen geworden en grondig doorontwikkeld.
